Police Intervention in Çankaya District Results in Multiple Arrests
In a recent statement released by the Governor’s Office, a police operation took place on Konur Street in the Çankaya district, where around 300 individuals were involved in what has been classified as an illegal gathering. The operation, which began at 21:00 yesterday, followed warnings issued by law enforcement regarding the potential for unrest.
During the intervention, authorities detained a total of 30 individuals—comprising 9 women and 21 men. This action was taken to restore order to the situation, which had escalated into a large, unauthorized demonstration.
Reports from various media outlets indicated that some of the detainees were captured in footage suggesting misconduct by police officers. However, upon further investigation, it was clarified that one of the individuals shown, identified as "MB," had a history of involvement in illegal social activities. In a peculiar turn, images surfaced showing this male suspect wearing women’s underwear during the incident.
The statement emphasized that "MB" had previously been arrested in 2020 for disseminating illegal propaganda and sharing obscene imagery. The Ankara Governorship urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and to refrain from spreading potentially damaging claims.
