Dhaka Anticipates Opening of Azerbaijani Diplomatic Mission

Bangladesh Seeks Azerbaijani Diplomatic Mission
In a recent development, Bangladesh has expressed its interest in establishing an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in the country. This announcement was made during the second round of interministerial political consultations, co-chaired by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Jashim Uddin and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov.
During these consultations, both parties took the opportunity to review and discuss the full spectrum of their bilateral relations. They noted with satisfaction the increasing momentum in various areas of cooperation, including political, economic, cultural, and multilateral initiatives.
Minister Uddin highlighted the necessity of opening an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Dhaka, noting that currently, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to India also represents the nation in Bangladesh. This diplomatic enhancement is aimed at strengthening ties further between the two nations.
The discussions also touched upon issues concerning travel, with Minister Uddin urging for a practical solution to the visa challenges faced by Bangladeshi citizens wishing to visit Azerbaijan. The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to sign several memorandums, including one that proposes a visa-free regime for diplomats and government officials.
Looking ahead, the next round of bilateral political consultations is set to take place in Baku, promising continued dialogue and collaboration between Bangladesh and Azerbaijan. Minister Uddin praised Azerbaijan’s leadership in promoting the global climate agenda, reflecting the shared commitment both countries have towards addressing global issues collaboratively.
This potential diplomatic mission could pave the way for deeper and more substantial diplomatic, economic, and cultural exchanges, thereby enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation.
