Diesel Prices Set to Increase Following recent Petrol Price Hike
Fuel Prices in Hungary to Increase for Fifth Consecutive Time
According to a recent report by Holtankojak.hu, fuel prices in Hungary are set to become more expensive for the fifth consecutive time. Starting from Thursday, wholesale prices for diesel will rise by HUF 4, leading to an increase in prices at petrol stations.
Yesterday, the average prices for petrol and diesel were HUF 588 per liter and HUF 589 per liter, respectively. With the expected price change, the average price of diesel is anticipated to exceed 590.
This marks the fifth consecutive partial increase in fuel prices, with petrol prices rising consistently over the past few weeks. Despite a temporary decline in prices two months ago, the overall trend has been upwards. The price of petrol has risen by HUF 28 per liter since January, while diesel has seen an increase of HUF 5 per liter.
One of the factors contributing to the rise in prices is the steady increase in the price of Brent oil, which has gone up from USD 70 to around USD 75 per barrel in just two weeks.
With petrol prices currently costing HUF 500-1,000 more for an average 50-liter tank compared to December last year, motorists in Hungary may need to adjust their budgets to accommodate the continued increase in fuel prices.
