Diploma Investigation Launched Against Ekrem İmamoğlu – Türkiye Breaking News
A new investigation has been launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President, Ekrem İmamoğlu. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into allegations regarding İmamoğlu’s undergraduate diploma being fake. Reports prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) have indicated that there may be discrepancies in the official documents related to İmamoğlu’s education.
It has been alleged that İmamoğlu, who was invited to provide a statement on February 26, did not receive recognition from YÖK in 1990 for his transfer to the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University. There are claims that İmamoğlu’s transfer and graduation from the department were done illegally and that obtaining his diploma may have violated the law.
İmamoğlu, who has faced accusations regarding his diploma in the past, did in fact graduate from Istanbul University’s Faculty of Business Administration. His educational background includes graduating from Trabzon High School, initially enrolling in the Civil Engineering Department at Eastern Mediterranean University in TRNC, later transferring to Kyrenia American University Faculty of Communication. After his family moved to Istanbul in 1987, he completed his studies at Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in 1990 and graduated from the department in 1994. Subsequently, in 1995, he pursued a master’s degree in Business Administration at Istanbul University’s Institute of Social Sciences, completing it while serving as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details regarding the allegations against Ekrem İmamoğlu are yet to be revealed.
