Diplomat Amangeldi Rahmanov Receives Special Award from Organization for Economic Cooperation

Amangeldi Rahmanov, the Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, has been honored with a special award from the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in the category of “History, Culture, Literature, and Fine Arts”. The prestigious award was presented to him by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov.

A veteran diplomat and esteemed professor, Rahmanov expressed his gratitude to the ECO Organizing Committee for the recognition of his scientific work at the award ceremony. He also extended his thanks to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, for their support of scientific endeavors. The announcement of the ECO award recipients was made during the 16th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which took place on November 9, 2023, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Rahmanov boasts an extensive diplomatic career, having served as the first Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations from February 1991 to January 1995. He went on to assume the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea from March 1995 to March 2001.

Since 2008, Rahmanov has been contributing to the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where he has also authored several textbooks for higher educational institutions in the country. His works include “Fundamentals of the Diplomatic Service (History-theory-practice)”, “The United Nations and its system”, “Diplomatic missions and information, analytical and educational activities”, “Turkmenistan-China: History and Modernity”, and “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan”.

In addition to the ECO award, Rahmanov was also honored with the distinctive badge “Master Diplomat of Turkmenistan” on February 18, 2023.
