Discover Rare and Exquisite Finds at the Art and Antique Fair
The Art and Antique Exhibition and Fair in Budapest is scheduled to take place from February 29 to March 3 at the Bálna Budapest. This exhibition boasts a collection of thousands of works from forty galleries, including pieces by renowned artists such as Simon Hantai and Judit Reigl, as well as silverware by Ferenc Kossuth.
In addition to the exhibition, Art and Antique will also host an online charity auction to raise funds for the Foundation for the Ballet Students of the Hungarian State Opera. The auction will feature a variety of classical and contemporary art, including Judit Reigl’s 1955 work “Black Explosion,” which is sure to attract interest from art historians and collectors.
One of the highlights of the exhibition will be a painting by famous Hungarian abstract painter Simon Hantai, valued at around HUF 100 million. This piece, which was recently discovered after more than 50 years in a private collection in France, is expected to draw significant attention from art enthusiasts.
The Nemes Gallery will showcase a significant work by Gyula Batthyány, “Storm at the Horse Race,” which has been hidden for nearly 100 years and is one of the artist’s most modern pieces, reflecting the hallmarks of Art Deco.
Visitors to the exhibition can also look forward to viewing a variety of other art forms, including furniture, sculptures, antique books, jewellery, and carpets. The Nudelman Numismatica stand will feature two woven works by Ilona Keserü, inspired by her painting “We’re going to Szentendre!”
Moreover, those in attendance will have the opportunity to see a 12-piece dinner set adorned with the Kossuth family coat of arms, valued at HUF 16.5 million, which may have belonged to Ferenc Kossuth, a former Minister of Trade of Hungary.
With such an impressive array of art and antique items on display, this year’s Art and Antique Exhibition and Fair promises to be a memorable and inspiring event for all art enthusiasts.
