Discover the Enchanting Lumina and Light Parks of Budapest and Gödöllő – Photo Galleries and Videos
Daylight saving time will end in Hungary on 27 October, which means there will be more light in the morning and less light in the evening. But do not be sad! The magical Lumina Park in Budapest has already opened, while the astonishing Light Park in Gödöllő will open tomorrow.
Magic of lights opened in Budapest
On 27 October at 3 AM, we will turn the clocks backwards by 1 hour. As a result, the sunrise and sunset will be one hour earlier after this Sunday. That means there will be more light in the morning and less light in the afternoon.
“Dazzle your eyes and admire the light sculptures of your favourite fairytale characters and movie heroes”, the Lumina Park in Budapest’s iconic Margaret Island says on its official website. “Our park will be a huge film festival for the whole family! Lumina Park’s spectacular exhibition with over 200 light installations and incredible music will be a lasting memory”, they added.
According to Kiskegyed, this is the third time Lumina Park opened its gates in Budapest’s Palatinus Beach on Margaret Island. In the previous two years, the park had more than 350 thousand visitors. You can meet with famous cartoon characters in the park designed by the Polish Lumina sp. z o. o. You can meet there with King Arthur, Robin Hood, Merlin, King Kong, Darth Vader, and Mr Bean, enter Narnia, and greet the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park.
It takes 1-1.5 hours to check out the wondrous light park with more than 200 light installations. The exhibition will remain open until 2 March. It is open between sunset and 9 PM.
Children under 2 can enter for free. Children under 18, students, pensioners, disabled people and their carers can buy reduced tickets. Furthermore, there is a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 kids or 1 adult and 3 children (under 18). Pay attention that you have to buy a weekend ticket between Friday-Sunday which costs slightly more than the ordinary. You may check out ticket prices HERE.
Light Park in Gödöllő will be open tomorrow
The Royal Palace of Gödöllő awaits you with another light show and exhibition commemorating Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, known as Sisi. The park will open on 26 October with a unique mixture of art, history, culture and modern technology. The Gödöllő light park is one of its kind, offering a glimpse of Sisi’s life, family and era.
The exhibition will be open until 2 March, and you can visit it between 5 PM and 9 PM. The adult ticket costs EUR 8, while the discounted ticket is EUR 7. You may buy a family ticket for EUR 29. HERE is the map of the light park.
