Bishkek Hosts Council Meeting on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality
On November 28, 2023, a meeting of the Council on the Rights of Women, Children and Gender Equality was held in Bishkek. The event was organized as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
This year’s campaign theme focuses on investing in the prevention of violence against women and girls. The meeting saw the participation of deputies of the Parliament, representatives of international organizations and civil society, as well as the Federation of Trade Unions of the Kyrgyz Republic and employers’ organizations.
The 16-day campaign is held annually from November 25 to December 10, and aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to end violence against women and girls.
The meeting in Bishkek served as an important platform for stakeholders to come together, discuss challenges, share best practices, and commit to taking concrete steps towards the promotion of gender equality and the protection of women’s rights. It highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing gender-based violence and creating a safer and more equitable society for all.
