Israel’s Air Attack Destroys Last Hospital in Gaza
In a devastating statement released by the DMM, it was revealed that Israel’s air attack on April 13th resulted in the destruction of the last hospital operating in Gaza. The Al-Ehli Baptist Hospital, which provided health services to over 1 million people, had its acceptance and emergency service building hit, rendering the hospital completely dysfunctional.
The Israeli army ordered the evacuation of all personnel, including critically ill patients, before striking the hospital just 20 minutes later. Yusuf Abu Sakran, who spoke to Al-Jazeera, recounted how he narrowly escaped with his child and wife, both of whom sustained severe burns. Tragically, it was confirmed that the child did not survive, and the transplantation of forty patients had to be postponed.
The intentional targeting of health institutions by Israel has raised serious concerns, with 36 hospitals, over 80 health centers, and more than 140 ambulances being impacted. According to the statement, the attacks on health workers and infrastructure have been condemned by numerous international organizations. Disinformation campaigns launched by Israel following the attacks have also been exposed.
Fadel Naeem, the director of El-Ehli Baptist Hospital, emphasized the vital importance of the facility and its services to the civilian population. It has become clear that Israel deliberately targeted health institutions that provide essential care to the people of Gaza. The destruction of the Al-Ehli Baptist Hospital not only threatens the lives of those in need of medical attention but also undermines humanitarian efforts in the region.
