Double Murder: Son Kills Father and Stepmother, Dumps Bodies in Lake
The indictment of the 4-year-old Melike Eşiyok, whose body was found in the Sazlıbosna Dam of Arnavutköy 6 years ago, has been prepared. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared the indictment, stating that a naked girl wrapped in sheets was found in the Sazlıbosna Dam Lake on April 15, 2018, by fishermen. The investigation into the identity of the body was transferred to the permanent search office. It has now been revealed that 4-year-old Melike Eşiyok’s brothers, E. and H., told their teachers that their father and his partner were responsible for Melike’s death.
The children, H. and E. Eşiyok, have been taken under the protection of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. In their statements, they revealed horrific details of the abuse and torture they endured at the hands of their father, Cahit, and stepmother, Zehra. The children shared that their father tied Melike to a heater honeycomb and subjected them to constant beatings.
According to the father’s statement, he divorced his wife in 2017 and met Zehra Ozturker, with whom he started living. He confessed to participating in the murder of Melike and disposing of her body in the Sazlıbosna Dam Lake. The stepmother, Zehra, mentioned that Cahit had a negative influence on the children and refused to report his actions to the authorities.
The mother of the children, Meryem Ataman, expressed shock and fear upon learning about Melike’s death and the events that transpired. The indictment also details the severe abuse and torture inflicted on Melike by her father and stepmother.
The defendants are facing charges of aggravated life imprisonment for the heinous crime, while the mother is being charged with neglect. The trial of the defendants is scheduled to begin shortly. This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and holding perpetrators of abuse and violence accountable for their actions.
