Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar Responds to Criticisms Regarding Summer Time and More
During the recent budget discussions at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar responded to a number of criticisms, including the summer time application, nuclear power plant installation, and oil production in Gabar.
Bayraktar addressed the criticism of the summer time application, stating that daylight saving time will continue throughout the year. He defended this decision by comparing the sunrise times in various cities, emphasizing that there should be no problem with the current system in Turkey.
Furthermore, the Minister drew attention to academic studies on the subject, citing a 2015 report from a protocol with Istanbul Technical University, which highlighted the benefits of implementing daylight saving time throughout the year for energy efficiency and economic gain.
Regarding the criticism of the nuclear power plant installation, Bayraktar clarified that a significant number of developed countries rely on nuclear energy, with the construction of 58 new reactors in 17 countries currently underway.
Finally, the Minister addressed the oil production in Gabar, announcing that the daily production level has reached approximately 30 thousand barrels and expressing a commitment to intensifying efforts to increase production to 100 thousand barrels by the end of 2024.
