Driver Sentenced to 9 Years for Killing Four Pedestrians in Fergana

The court documents revealed that on February 20, 2024, around 11:30 PM, Sh.V. was driving on a road passing through the Dangara district when he lost control of the vehicle and hit six pedestrians walking on the roadside. Four young men, aged 20-21, tragically lost their lives in the accident, while two other individuals sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

Following a forensic examination that detected alcohol and drugs in Sh.V.’s system, the driver confessed to his guilt during the court proceedings. He admitted to consuming alcohol before driving and falling asleep at the wheel, leading to the fatal collision.

The relatives of the victims, who had covered the funeral expenses themselves, renounced material and moral damages and called for the harshest punishment for the driver. As a result, Sh.V. was found guilty of leaving in danger leading to death and violation of traffic safety rules leading to death, and he was sentenced to nine years in prison with a three-year ban on driving any type of vehicle.
