Minister Yerlikaya Confirms No Driver’s License Amnesty in 2025
The speculation surrounding the potential release of a driver’s license amnesty in 2025 has been put to rest by a clear statement from Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya. Drivers who have had their licenses confiscated due to penalty scores in traffic have been eagerly awaiting an official announcement on the matter. Minister Yerlikaya took to social media to address the issue and provide the public with the latest data.
In a tweet, Minister Yerlikaya unequivocally stated, “The issue of ‘driver amnesty’ is absolutely not on our agenda.” He also revealed that as of April 19, 2025, a total of 689,946 drivers had not had their licenses temporarily reinstated.
The Minister went on to explain the reasons behind the temporary confiscation of these licenses, citing violations such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, refusal to take alcohol measurement tests, excessive speeding, running red lights, drifting, and other law infringements. Additionally, 162,397 drivers had their licenses temporarily suspended due to judicial processes related to fatal or injury-causing accidents, health concerns, and other legal issues.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that every action taken by the government aims to prioritize road safety and prevent accidents that may result in the loss of life or property. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring the safety of all individuals on the road.
In conclusion, Minister Yerlikaya reassured the public that the government’s strict measures are intended to protect lives and prevent tragedies. The message is clear: there will be no leniency for those who endanger road safety through irresponsible behavior.
