Dutch Economy Minister Previously Served as Honorary Consul for Hungary
The Dutch government has recently taken the oath of office, with Honorary Consul Dirk Beljaarts included among the officials. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó congratulated Beljaarts on Facebook, highlighting his excellent Hungarian language skills and dedication to Dutch-Hungarian relations.
Beljaarts, who has been working for many years to strengthen ties between the two countries and assist Hungarian citizens, will now serve as Minister for Economic Affairs. Szijjártó expressed gratitude for their past collaboration and expressed readiness for future cooperation.
In his congratulatory letter, Szijjártó emphasized the importance of addressing the economic challenges facing Europe, particularly in terms of competitiveness. He called for a united effort to bolster Europe’s economic standing and rejected any political ideologies that impede progress.
As Hungary prepares to assume the EU Presidency, Szijjártó underscored the need for cooperation with the Netherlands to advance the EU competitiveness pact. He also stressed the importance of a strong European internal market and free trade relations.
Szijjártó extended his appreciation to Beljaarts for his nearly 10 years of honorary consular service and his role in enhancing Hungarian-Dutch relations. He expressed confidence that the new Dutch government would further strengthen the bond between the two countries.
