EBRD Funds Water Supply and Treatment Projects

Bishkek, 14 October 2024 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has allocated 17 million euros for the project titled “Rehabilitation of water supply systems in the cities of Shopokov, Kemin, Talas (phase II)” in Kyrgyzstan.

The Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Ecology, and Regional Development of the Kyrgyz Parliament has approved the receipt of these funds. Almazbek Sokeev, the Director of the Water Resources Service, has stated that 7.6 million euros will be provided as a loan for 15 years with a four-year grace period, with a loan rate of 1 percent plus the Euribor rate. Additionally, 9.4 million euros will be received as a grant for the project.

This project aims to improve the water supply systems in these cities and ensure access to clean and safe water for the residents. The funding will contribute to the overall development and sustainability of the water infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan.
