Edil Baisalov: Real Growth in Population Living Standards

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Edil Baisalov, recently participated in a round table discussion where the findings of a new cluster survey on various indicators were presented. The National Statistical Committee conducted this survey, interviewing 7,200 households across Kyrgyzstan on 185 indicators related to health care, education, and social protection of women and children.

During the round table, Baisalov highlighted the positive results of the survey, stating, “We see a real growth in the standard of living of the population, reflected in the growth of income, consumption, and savings.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in human capital, particularly in children, as a top priority for national development.

Baisalov also mentioned a recent law signed by the President aimed at easing the financial burden on businesses and formalizing them in the economy. Under this law, the burden of insurance contributions for employers has been significantly reduced, from 17.25 percent to 2.25 percent. This reduction is expected to allow bona fide employers in the private sector to increase wages for their employees by at least 10 percent.

In conclusion, Baisalov expressed optimism about the impact of these measures on the overall economic well-being of Kyrgyzstan, stating, “We expect that this will allow bona fide employers in small and medium-sized businesses to increase wages of hired employees in the near future.” This move is seen as a positive step towards improving the business environment and supporting economic growth in the country.
