Education and Healthcare Workers’ Earnings Lag Behind National Average

Tashkent Continues to Shine with Highest Average Wages in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, maintains its status as the leading city in the country in terms of average wage levels. Recent data from the National Statistics Committee reveals that the average nominal monthly salary across Uzbekistan for the first quarter of the year reached 5.79 million UZS, marking an impressive 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
In Tashkent, the average salary stands at 9.88 million UZS, nearly double that of most other regions. Following Tashkent in terms of average wages are the Navoi region, with an average of 7.3 million UZS, and the Tashkent region, where the salary averages 5.4 million UZS. Meanwhile, salaries in other regions hover between 4 and 4.8 million UZS, highlighting the significant wage disparity across the country.
Sector-specific data reveals that the highest-paying industries remain consistent, with banking, insurance, leasing, and financial intermediation services leading the way, boasting an average salary of 15.84 million UZS. The information and communications sector follows closely, with average earnings of 14.81 million UZS.
Conversely, the education and healthcare sectors continue to grapple with lower salaries, where average monthly wages are reported at 4 million UZS and 3.6 million UZS, respectively—both figures falling significantly below the national average.
This ongoing wage disparity underscores the economic challenges faced by lower-paying sectors, while higher salaries in urban areas and specific industries highlight the potential for growth and economic development in Uzbekistan.
