
EIB Provides Ukraine with 300M Euros for Energy and Infrastructure Restoration

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed to providing Ukraine with 300 million euros to support the restoration of energy and critical infrastructure in the country. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this significant financial assistance following agreements signed in Brussels with EIB President Nadia Calvino.
The allocation of funds includes 100 million euros for investments in centralized heating, enhancement of energy efficiency, and procurement of necessary equipment such as power generation installations. Another 100 million euros will be directed towards projects focused on improving water supply and sanitation, while the remaining 100 million euros will be utilized for the rehabilitation of water, heat supply, and sewage facilities. Additionally, funds will also be allocated for the modernization of key social services in areas like education, healthcare, and housing.
Prime Minister Shmyhal highlighted the importance of the partnership with the EIB, discussing the implementation of joint projects and the exploration of new opportunities in various sectors including transport, social infrastructure, energy efficiency, and energy power. He acknowledged the EIB’s critical role in providing over 2 billion euros in emergency financing since the start of the Russian invasion, expressing gratitude for the bank’s active support and contribution to Ukraine’s resilience.
The EIB’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s recovery efforts underscores the ongoing collaboration between the financial institution and the Ukrainian government in addressing crucial infrastructure needs and strengthening the country’s infrastructure resilience.
