
Elchin Amirbayov: The Importance of the Zangazur Corridor in Enhancing South Caucasus Relations

President of Azerbaijan Elchin Amirbayov highlighted the importance of the Zangazur corridor as a crucial confidence-building measure in the South Caucasus region. Speaking at a panel discussion titled “OTS: A Unique Model of Cooperation” at the IV Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Amirbayov emphasized that the corridor plays a significant role in the ongoing process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan.
The Zangazur corridor, beyond its commercial significance, is viewed as a key element in building confidence in the region. It serves as a crucial component in the process of normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Amirbayov stated that the corridor provides Armenia, which is currently in economic isolation, with an opportunity to integrate into the region and enhance its strategic importance.
The Zangazur corridor is not only beneficial for economic purposes but also contributes to fostering better relations and cooperation between countries in the South Caucasus region. With ongoing efforts for normalization and collaboration, it is expected to bring about positive outcomes for both Armenia and Azerbaijan.
