Eldor Shomurodov Named AS Roma’s Player of the Month Again
Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov has once again claimed the title of AS Roma’s Player of the Month, thanks to his outstanding performances throughout April. His contributions included crucial goals against Juventus and Verona, along with a pivotal assist in Roma’s victory over Inter Milan.
The club announced the results of its April Player of the Month fan poll, where Shomurodov triumphed for the second time this season. He garnered the highest number of votes among four contenders listed on the club’s official website, significantly outpacing fellow nominees Soule, Svilar, and N’Dicka.
In a busy month, Roma participated in four Serie A matches, recording draws against formidable opponents Juventus and Lazio, both ending 1–1. However, the team managed to secure narrow 1–0 victories over Verona and league leaders Inter Milan.
Shomurodov made a significant impact in the match against Juventus, coming off the bench to score the equalizer. He also showcased his energetic presence after being substituted in during the second half against Lazio. His remarkable form continued when he started against Verona, netting the winning goal just four minutes into the match. Against Inter, he played a key role from the outset, providing an assist for Soule’s decisive goal, which helped the team maintain their lead.
Currently under the guidance of manager Claudio Ranieri, AS Roma is enjoying an impressive 18-game unbeaten streak. With only four matches remaining this season, the team is intensely competing for a Champions League qualification, sitting in sixth place with 60 points, just two points behind Juventus, who occupy the fourth and final qualifying spot. The next challenge for Roma will be a home match against Fiorentina.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time Shomurodov has received this honor; he was initially named Player of the Month back in February, underscoring his consistent form and importance to the team.
