Turkey prepares for General Elections on May 14th, to elect both a new President and new members of parliament. The Victory Party and the Justice Party are running under the name of the “Ata” alliance, whilst the Communist Party of Turkey, the Communist Movement of Turkey, and the Left Party have formed the “Socialist Union of Forces”.

The election will take place in 191,884 ballot boxes set up across 973 districts and 1094 district election boards. Approximately 64 million 113 thousand 941 voters will cast their votes, including 4 million 904 thousand 672 first-time voters. 53 thousand 172 voters who are imprisoned in prison and convicted of negligent crimes will also be able to vote. Additionally, approximately 133 thousand voters from the earthquake zone are expected to vote.
