Electricity grid worker and accomplice arrested for massive power theft
An employee of the Karshi city power grid company has been apprehended for involvement in a major theft of electricity, in collaboration with a local farmer. The suspect, identified as B.A., teamed up with the head of a farming enterprise, known as O.T., to unlawfully connect two homemade oil production devices located in the farm’s warehouse to the electrical grid. The Prosecutor General’s Office disclosed that this illicit connection resulted in the pilfering of electricity amounting to over 1 billion UZS.
A criminal case has been launched against B.A. and accomplices under Article 169, Part 4, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code, pertaining to theft of particularly significant amounts. The suspects have been taken into custody as per the legal procedures.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding against electricity theft, as well as the necessity of stringent measures to prevent such criminal activities. Authorities are working diligently to ensure that those responsible for this theft are held accountable for their actions.
