The news of the prisoners’ release was announced by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson Majed al-Ansari, 39 Palestinian women and children who were imprisoned in Israeli jails have been released as a part of interim humanitarian commitments.
Among the released prisoners is Palestinian Marah Bakir, who was arrested at the age of 15 in 2015 and has spent years in isolation. Her freedom was celebrated as she reunited with her family, marking an emotional moment that has captured the attention of the world.

In response to the release, the Israel Defense Forces announced that 13 captives, presumably Palestinian, had been brought back to Israeli territory accompanied by the IDF and Shin Bet, the internal intelligence service.
