EMRA Implements Free Natural Gas Consumption Policy

Turkey Announces Free Natural Gas for Two Months
Turkey’s Black Sea gas discovery has led to good news for Turkish citizens in the form of free natural gas for two months. According to a Presidential Decree, there will be no charge for natural gas usage between 24th April and 31st May.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) also published a decision in the Official Gazette outlining the principles of free natural gas use during this period.
In addition, the EMRA Chairman, Mustafa Yilmaz, announced that the natural gas bills collected from subscribers will be canceled, and the money refunded within three days.
The cost of providing free natural gas is estimated at 40 billion TL, demonstrating Turkey’s commitment to ensuring citizens benefit from the country’s natural resources.
This new decision will be welcomed by Turkish citizens, especially as they face rising energy costs. It is hoped that this move will lead to further investment in Turkey’s energy sector, driving economic growth and prosperity for all.
