The Eurasian Economic Commission has announced that the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be increasing their oversight and control over the safety of children’s products. This decision comes in response to growing concerns about the quality and safety of items designed for young children.
During the recent Congress of the Children’s Goods Industry in Moscow, Valentin Tataritsky, the Minister of the EEC, emphasized the importance of ensuring that products for children are the safest available on the market. He called for a review of the technical regulations of the EAEU to incorporate new technologies and address potential risks to the mental and physical development of children.
Currently, the EAEU has regulations in place regarding the safety of toys, clothing, amusement rides, and playground equipment. However, Tataritsky and other experts believe that more stringent measures are necessary to guarantee the well-being of children. They emphasized the importance of considering factors such as material, smell, shape, and color when purchasing toys, as these elements can impact a child’s perception and overall safety.
With this new focus on child product safety, EAEU countries are expected to work together to enhance regulations and enforcement measures to protect the youngest members of society. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be vigilant when selecting items for children and to prioritize safety above all else.
