Enhanced Interparliamentary Dialogue Between Turkmenistan and Romania

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania recently hosted a meeting with the co-chairman of the interparliamentary Turkmen-Romanian friendship group, deputy Anquetillier-Karoly Kolchar.

Taking place on February 27 at the initiative of the Turkmen side, the meeting aimed to address issues of bilateral cooperation and outline plans for the near future. Both parties acknowledged the positive experience of interaction at the interparliamentary level between Turkmenistan and Romania.

Emphasis was placed on the significance of the Turkmen-Romanian interparliamentary friendship group, which has been in operation since 2017. It was agreed upon to exchange the composition of national friendship groups in the near future and consider the possibility of organizing their next meeting in Ashgabat in April or June of this year.

Ambassador Annamammet Annaev highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, mentioning that in 2022, at the 39th meeting of the permanent council of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) in Bursa, Turkey, it was proposed to declare 2024 as “The Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Magtymguly Fragi” in honor of his 300th anniversary.

In light of this proposal, both parties agreed to hold joint events dedicated to commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi.

This meeting signifies a continued commitment to strengthen ties and collaboration between Turkmenistan and Romania at both the parliamentary and cultural levels.
