Iran and Iraq Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Oil Cooperation
Oil officials from Iran and Iraq have come together to strengthen their bilateral ties in the oil sector. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a meeting between Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, and Iranian Oil Minister, Mohsen Paknejad, in Baghdad.
The meeting, held on Monday, focused on the potential for joint cooperation between the two countries. A high-profile discussion took place, leading to the signing of agreements in the field of expertise exchange and joint cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of these agreements in serving the interests of both nations.
During the meeting, the Iraqi minister highlighted his country’s promising gas investment projects and its aim to achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum derivatives. Meanwhile, Minister Paknejad expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and visit to Iraq, emphasizing the deep cultural relations between Iran and Iraq. He stressed the significance of maintaining strong relations between the two countries across all sectors.
As Iran and Iraq move forward with their collaboration in the oil industry, this MoU marks a significant step towards further enhancing their partnership and mutual interests.
