
Enhancing Sectoral Innovation through Cluster Collaborations

Important Events in Ankara and Istanbul Aim to Increase Collaboration in Technical Textile and Composite Material Sectors
An information event was recently held in Ankara and Istanbul with the goal of enhancing collaboration among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the technical textile and composite material sectors. The event was organized within the framework of the BUTEXCOMP project, which was launched in Bursa to strengthen the competitiveness of these industries in global markets.
The Composite Material and Technical Textile Prototype Production and Application Center Project (BUTEXCOMP) is supported by the European Union and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey as part of the ‘Competitive Sectors Program’. The project is being carried out by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) through BUTEKOM. Following the success of the project in Bursa, a ‘Composite Material and Technical Textile Cluster Promotion and Inter-Cluster Cooperation Development Event’ was organized in Ankara and Istanbul. The event aimed to discuss sectoral trends, opportunities for research and development, work areas, and collaboration issues with both national and international stakeholders.
BUTEXCOMP Project Operation Coordination Unit Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan highlighted the progress made in the project. He mentioned the establishment of a high-tech machinery park in BUTEKOM, which provides design, modeling, prototype production, testing, and analysis services. Prof. Dr. Karahan emphasized the importance of innovation and efficiency in a competitive environment, urging businesses to leverage inter-company and inter-cluster collaborations for success.
The workshops held in Ankara and Istanbul for the ‘Composite Materials and Technical Textile Innovation Cluster’ event received significant interest from sectoral stakeholders. Murat Kurtlar, General Manager of Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center (BUTEKOM), emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth, value-added production, and social responsibility activities. He highlighted the benefits of the production center established within the BUTEXCOMP project for enhancing the competitiveness of companies and contributing to the country’s economy.
During the events in Istanbul and Ankara, BUTEXCOMP officials shared detailed information about the project. International collaboration opportunities were also explored, with representatives from Belgium and Germany participating in the discussions. The events featured discussions on sectoral trends, collaboration opportunities, and work areas through video conferences with industry experts.
Overall, the events in Ankara and Istanbul served as platforms for fostering collaboration and driving innovation in the technical textile and composite material sectors.
