Enhancing Urolithiasis Treatment at National Hospital with New Device

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Room Opened at National Hospital in Bishkek

An extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) room has recently been inaugurated at the Urology Department of the National Hospital in Bishkek, as reported by the press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.

Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev highlighted that the urology department of the hospital receives around 30-50 patients daily, with 60 percent of them seeking treatment for kidney stones. ESWL is considered to be the best method for removing stones from the ureter or kidney without the need for surgery, using specialized equipment to crush the stones.

Through a public-private partnership (PPP) project, a state-of-the-art shock wave lithotripsy device has been installed at the National Hospital, along with the launch of an ESWL room. This advancement aims to enhance the quality of medical care provided to patients and significantly reduce their hospitalization time.

In addition to this development, another ESWL room was inaugurated at the Jalal-Abad Regional Clinical Hospital on June 28, 2024. The total investment for this project amounts to $400,000 and is dedicated to improving the quality of medical services in the treatment of urolithiasis, as well as enhancing access to modern medical technologies for the population of the republic.
