Entrepreneurs Call for Action Against Power Companies Due to Frequent Power Outages
Entrepreneur in the IT sector, Abduqahhor Toshmuhamedov, has raised concerns about daily power outages during a recent dialogue with officials. Toshmuhamedov emphasized the vital role electricity plays in the IT sector, stating that “IT begins with electricity and ends when it cuts off.”
The dialogue took place in preparation for a meeting with entrepreneurs from various sectors, including finance, law, consulting, IT, and communication. During the session, Toshmuhamedov highlighted the challenges posed by the frequent power cuts experienced since the beginning of summer.
He pointed out that the lack of accountability from electricity networks was a significant issue, especially given the disruptions it causes to businesses and their international partnerships. Toshmuhamedov suggested that agreements with power companies should include penalties for unannounced power cuts, to ensure a more reliable supply.
Business ombudsman Dilmurod Kosimov responded to Toshmuhamedov’s concerns by acknowledging the widespread impact of power outages on businesses across various sectors. He mentioned that a proposal is being developed to hold power companies accountable for unexplained power cuts, aiming to minimize disruptions to business operations.
The ongoing discussions around accountability for power outages come in the context of new tariffs for electricity and natural gas, set to be implemented from 2026 onwards. The decision to maintain these tariffs for at least three years underscores the importance of ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for businesses in the country.
