Entrepreneurs in Oltinkul district face blackout, resort to solar panel installation

Entrepreneurs in the center of Oltinkul district in the Andijan region are facing a crisis as they have been cut off from electricity and are being forced to install solar panels by the authorities. This development has left many businesses in the district struggling to operate and meet their daily needs.

According to reports received by Kun.uz, on the morning of September 7, various businesses such as shops, pharmacies, gas stations, bakeries, educational centers, and production enterprises in Oltinkul district found themselves disconnected from electricity. Entrepreneurs in the area have expressed their frustration at the sudden disconnection and the pressure to install solar panels.

Some of the affected businessmen explained that they were informed by the district prosecutor’s office that the electricity disconnection was done at their request. However, when they sought clarification from the prosecutor’s office, they were told that no such directive was given. Instead, they were informed by the district electricity company that unless they install solar panels, they will not have access to electricity.

The demand to install solar panels has caused distress among the entrepreneurs, as many of them do not have the financial means to afford such an investment at this time. They are urging the authorities to allow them more time to install the solar panels and not abruptly cut off their electricity supply.

In response to the situation, the Regional Electric Networks JSC press secretary stated that the installation of solar panels is in line with presidential decrees aimed at promoting renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies. However, the abrupt disconnection of electricity without prior warning has raised concerns among the affected entrepreneurs.

Kun.uz attempted to obtain a comment from the Oltinkul district administration but was unsuccessful. The affected businesses are now left in a challenging situation, as they seek solutions to regain access to electricity while grappling with the pressure to install solar panels.
