
Environmental Conference on Fuel and Energy Sector Kicks Off in Ashgabat

A scientific and practical conference titled “Energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects of the development of hydrocarbon deposits” has commenced at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas in Ashgabat. The conference has attracted more than 800 delegates from 20 countries. The main focus of the event is to discuss the application of new technologies in the fuel and energy sector, as well as finding solutions to minimize methane and CO2 emissions resulting from hydrocarbon production. Additionally, the conference will explore the possibility of obtaining additional environmental financing and initiatives to promote clean energy.
The participants of the conference include representatives from organizations such as the UN, OSCE, the International Observatory on Methane Emissions, the Asian Development Bank, and companies like Climate Compass, LLC, Tetra Tech Inc, GHGSat Inc, Carbon Limits AS, Dragon Oil, LLC MIP “NES Profexpert”, Chevron, Baker Hughes, PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd, Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited, among others.
The significance of the conference lies in the fact that it coincides with the initiation of Turkmenistan’s Roadmap for International Cooperation to join the Global Methane Commitment.
Apart from focusing on environmental issues related to methane and associated gas emissions during the development of oil and gas fields, the conference will also delve into the utilization of advanced technologies and expertise for optimizing hydrocarbon production.
This conference serves as a platform for international experts and industry professionals to exchange knowledge and insights, paving the way for sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices in the hydrocarbon sector.
