Erdogan Engages in Intense Diplomatic Efforts

President Erdogan Set for Intense Foreign Contacts Following Holiday Break
President Erdogan is set to engage in a series of high-level international engagements in the coming weeks, with all eyes on Turkey at the upcoming NATO Summit in July.
The NATO Leaders’ Summit, scheduled to take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, on July 11-12, will be a particularly important event for President Erdogan. The summit’s primary agenda item will be Sweden’s NATO membership process. Turkey had previously rejected Sweden and Finland’s bids for membership due to their links to the PKK and the terrorist activities taking place within their borders. However, in light of recent developments and the signing of a tripartite agreement, Turkey has lifted the reserve it had placed on Finland. The focus at the summit will now shift to Sweden’s current situation and its potential NATO membership.
Ahead of the summit, a meeting will be held at NATO headquarters in Brussels on July 6th. This high-level meeting on Sweden’s NATO membership will involve discussions on Sweden’s commitments and progress within the agreement. Turkey’s Foreign Minister, along with his Swedish and Finnish counterparts, will be in attendance, as well as national security advisors from each country. The outcomes of this meeting will provide further insight into the NATO Summit in Lithuania.
In addition to these engagements, President Erdogan is also expected to embark on a tour of Gulf countries in the upcoming weeks. Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are among the countries he is anticipated to visit. Furthermore, in September, Erdogan is set to travel to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
With such a packed schedule of diplomatic activities, President Erdogan’s foreign contacts are expected to be intense and closely observed by the international community. All eyes will be on Turkey in the coming months as significant developments unfold at these critical international events.
