President Erdoğan Criticizes Nepotism in Opposition Municipalities
In a recent statement, President Erdoğan expressed his astonishment at the appointments of spouses, friends, and relatives in opposition municipalities. He emphasized the need to stop such scandals, stating that public positions are meant for serving the nation, not for personal gain.
Erdoğan made these comments at the General Assembly Meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, where he also discussed the importance of implementing savings measures in the public sector. He called for public institutions to lead by example in saving practices, aiming for a permanent change in corporate culture.
The President highlighted positive economic indicators, such as the Central Bank’s foreign exchange reserves reaching 127 billion dollars and a decrease in unemployment rates. He also set a tourism target of generating 60 billion dollars in income with 60 million visitors this year.
Erdoğan concluded by announcing the issuance of green passports to 365 chamber and commodity exchange presidents, following a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan on the matter. The President’s remarks signal a commitment to combat nepotism and promote transparency in public administration.
