Establishment of Modern Tourist Centers in Surkhandarya’s Districts

A new era for tourism in Uzbekistan: Presidential decree establishes tourist centers in Surkhandarya region

In a move to boost tourism infrastructure and promote economic growth, a recent presidential decree has paved the way for the establishment of tourist centers in the Boysun, Sariosiyo, and Jarkurgan districts of Surkhandarya region. The decree outlines plans for the development of modern service and tourism facilities in these mountainous and recreational areas.

Under the decree, three tourist centers will be established, including the “Omonkhona” tourist center in the Boysun district, the “Sangardak” tourist center in the Sariosiyo district, and the “Obihayot” tourist center on the shore of the “Oktepa” reservoir in the Jarkurgan district. To oversee the development and management of these centers, a state institution known as the “Surkhandarya Regional Directorate for the Development and Management of Tourism Infrastructure” will be established.

To attract private investments and promote entrepreneurial and urban development in the area, vacant land plots will be sold through electronic online auctions. These plots will be auctioned off for the construction of hotels, family guesthouses, service complexes, and recreation areas on a 10-year installment basis with equal payments.

This initiative is part of a larger effort to revitalize tourism in Uzbekistan, following a similar decree in September 2023 that focused on the improvement of tourism infrastructure in the Kashkadarya region. With these new developments, Uzbekistan is poised to become a premier destination for tourists seeking a blend of natural beauty and modern comforts.
