Ethics Committee Warns Gunes Newspaper

The Media Ethics Committee has recently made a unanimous decision to warn the Güneş Newspaper for a violation of journalistic principles.
In a written statement released by the Media Ethics Committee, it was revealed that visuals published in the current issue of the Güneş Newspaper were taken from journalist Doğan Samer’s personal Facebook account without permission. The newspaper failed to provide proper credit to the original source and owner of the photographs, going against ethical principles in journalism.
The statement emphasized the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and copyrights in journalism. It highlighted that content produced by journalists or photographers is their intellectual property and should not be used without permission. Protecting the rights of content producers and showing respect to the owners are fundamental principles in journalism.
The Güneş Newspaper was accused of ignoring the hard work and rights of photographers by using visuals without authorization. Unauthorized use of content not only violates individual rights but also raises ethical concerns in the journalism profession.
As a result of the Media Ethics Committee’s evaluation, it was unanimously decided to issue a warning to the Güneş Newspaper for their violation of ethical standards. This decision serves as a reminder to media outlets to uphold journalistic principles and respect the rights of content creators.
