EU Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the Euro with Congratulatory Message

Senior officials of the European Union (EU) published a joint message to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Euro currency.
EU officials published a joint congratulatory message on the 25th anniversary of the Euro, which started to be used as the single currency of the B member states on January 1, 1999. Among the officials were EU Council President Charles Michel, Irish Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Paschal Donohoe, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
In the joint message, it was underlined that the Euro began to be used after the Second World War when the most important way to benefit from the economic benefits in Europe was the need for a single currency. The officials emphasized that the euro is an indispensable part of daily life that gives simplicity, stability and sovereignty.
The Euro was also referred to as the second most important currency in the world, making life easier for European citizens and providing stability during a series of crises. The message highlighted that the Euro has given the Eurozone countries greater sovereignty in a turbulent world and has increased the number of countries using the Euro from 11 to 20.
The message also acknowledged the challenges faced by the Euro over the years, including questions about its future. Despite these challenges, the Euro has found the right answers, such as establishing safeguards like harmonized banking supervision and resolution systems, and the European Stability Mechanism.
The message emphasized that while the Euro has overcome past challenges, new ones continue to arise, and countries are looking to Europe for the solution.
The joint message from the senior EU officials reflects the significance of the Euro as a symbol of unity and stability in Europe, and as a driver of economic growth and prosperity for its member states.
