
European Council Head Familiarizes with Kyrgyz Culture and Customs

President of the European Council Charles Michel was treated to a cultural program during his official visit to Kyrgyzstan. The program was organized in the Issyk-Kul region with the aim of introducing the culture and customs of the Kyrgyz people to the visiting head of state.
Upon his arrival at the ethno-complex, Michel was greeted by Alptar baatyrs and girls in national costumes called “Atalar izi”. The cultural program, organized on the alley of artisans, saw the guests being presented with the national customs and traditions of the Kyrgyz people in yurts with interior decoration. Storytellers read excerpts from the Manas epic, while singers and instrumentalists showcased their skills.
The heads of delegations were treated to ethno-cultural games with elements of traditional hunting such as “salbuurun” and “kyz kuumai”, and a concert program prepared by the folklore and ethnographic ensemble named after Isabaev, “Kambarkan”.
This event was a great opportunity for Kyrgyzstan to showcase its culture to visiting dignitaries and promote the country’s tourism potential. It also reflects the Kyrgyz people’s pride in their heritage and traditions.
