Eid-al-Adha Celebration at Darülaceze: Bringing Joy to the Elderly and Orphans
Once again, the Darülaceze was filled with excitement as the annual Eid-al-Adha celebration took place, bringing joy to the elderly and orphans in need of care services.
The celebration kicked off in the morning in the institution’s garden, where residents and visitors engaged in conversations and shared the festive spirit. Darülaceze President Esra Ceceli İslam revealed that they welcomed over 400 guests, including children aged 0-3, with the majority being elderly and disabled individuals.
In her statement, İslam emphasized the importance of not leaving the Darülaceze residents alone during the holiday season, inviting all citizens of Istanbul to join the celebration. She mentioned a sacrifice campaign, where citizens could donate animals and receive a small treat in return, as well as the opportunity to visit the institution. Young people, in particular, were encouraged to participate in the festivities.
Ali Gülcan, President of the Good Club, shared that their club members visited Darülaceze to connect with the elders and offer their support. He highlighted the value of first-time visitors, who often become regular visitors and actively engage with the residents through various activities and events.
Among the residents, 96-year-old Ercan Pişirir stood out with his story of reconciliation and forgiveness during Eid. Despite his age and past mistakes, he expressed his desire to make amends with his siblings, whom he had not spoken to for a long time.
Another resident, Gül Samsunlu, shared her experience of staying at Darülaceze for 2.5 months and expressed gratitude for the frequent visits and calls from her relatives.
The Eid-al-Adha celebration at Darülaceze not only brought joy and festive spirit to the residents but also highlighted the importance of unity, reconciliation, and kindness during the holiday season. It served as a reminder to cherish moments with loved ones and spread love and compassion to those in need.
