The Turkish Grand National Assembly Receives Interesting Petitions
Recently, the Turkish Grand National Assembly has been inundated with a variety of interesting petitions from citizens all over the country. Among these petitions are some unusual requests, including the demand for women who have completed 25 years of marriage to be given the right to retire. This particular request has caught the attention of the Parliamentary Petition Commission, which is now considering potential changes to the Social Security and General Health Insurance Law or new legal regulations to address this issue.
In addition to the retirement request, there have been multiple demands to stop Israel’s attacks in Gaza, including sending a note to Israel, starting voluntary military service for Palestine, banning all Israeli products, and initiating a blood donation campaign for Gaza.
Other noteworthy requests include fighting against fraud in the cryptocurrency market, banning mixed breakfast to reduce food waste, keeping mosques open in every neighborhood for 24-hour use, demanding additional taxes from yacht owners, and discouraging street celebrations.
Additional petitions have suggested the abolition of indefinite alimony, allowing the physical purchase and sale of quarter, half, and republic gold in state banks, implementing variable working hours to reduce traffic congestion in Istanbul, and addressing the issue of exorbitant house rents.
Overall, the Petition Commission has received nearly 5,000 applications from citizens, with 12,386 petitions being reviewed in total. However, 84 petitions have been removed from the process due to noncompliance with legislation or duplication.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly continues to review these petitions and consider potential changes or solutions to address the concerns raised by its citizens.
