Exclusive Rights List Revealed by Competition Committee
The Competition Committee has recently released a registry of business entities that hold exclusive rights in Uzbekistan. The registry, which includes 67 companies across 81 types of activities, highlights those granted exclusive rights in various sectors.
Notably, companies that obtained exclusive rights through classified documents are not included in the public registry. These companies will be maintained in a separate registry to ensure the confidentiality of their rights.
Most of the companies listed in the registry are state-owned, with a focus on the construction sector. Additionally, there are several IT companies that have been granted exclusive rights in specific areas. The registry also encompasses companies in agriculture, geology, pharmaceuticals, tourism, insurance, and publishing.
In the energy sector, organizations in the hydropower industry, as well as Uzenergosotin, Tie, and the National Dispatch Center, are among those granted exclusive rights.
One private company included in the registry is CRPT Turon LLC, which holds exclusive rights related to product labeling and traceability. The Uzbekistan Scientific Testing and Quality Control Center (UzTest) has also been granted an exclusive right to conduct testing related to state control.
Interestingly, the operator of the mandatory IMEI registration system for mobile devices, Information Technology Center (USA), is not listed in the registry. Similarly, companies believed to hold exclusive rights to access and export mineral resources are also absent from the public registry.
Overall, the use, distribution, and granting of exclusive rights to business entities are regulated by legal and regulatory documents in Uzbekistan. If exclusive rights are granted based on restricted-access legal acts, they are maintained separately in accordance with established procedures.
