Expansion of Services at National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare in Bishkek

A new unit has been opened at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare in Bishkek, as reported by the press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan. This new unit, in addition to the hemodialysis department, will house an endocrinology department with 30 beds, a nephrology department with 30 beds, intensive care beds, a small operating room, a large assembly hall, and other utility rooms.

The Ministry of Health highlighted that the building, which has a total area of 2,588 square meters, had been left unfinished for 30 years. Thanks to the support of the As-Safa Center, all necessary construction and repair work has now been completed, modern communication systems have been installed, and comfortable conditions have been created for both patients and medical personnel. The departments are equipped with toilets and showers, and particular attention has been given to providing modern medical equipment.

Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev stressed that the health of children and mothers is a top priority for the ministry. He expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the construction work in a short period of time and the improved facilities now available, thanks to the support from the As-Safa Foundation.

The Ministry of Health revealed that the hemodialysis department treated 130 patients in 2023, including 33 children, who underwent 887 hemodialysis procedures. With the opening of the new unit, the department’s capabilities are expected to expand and cater to more patients efficiently.

Furthermore, the nephrology and endocrinology departments will also benefit from the new facilities and equipment, allowing for improved medical services. Last year, the nephrology department provided inpatient treatment to 476 patients with kidney diseases, while the endocrinology department treated 900 children with endocrine pathologies, with 75% of them suffering from type 1 diabetes.

Overall, the completion of the new unit at the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare in Bishkek represents a significant milestone in enhancing healthcare services for children and mothers in Kyrgyzstan.
