Expert Delegation Consulted by Hotel Fire Research Commission at Kartalkaya Ski Center

AK Party Erzurum deputy Selami Altinok chaired the commission meeting where Istanbul Technical University Grand Kartal Hotel fire expert delegation presented their findings. Prof. Dr. Servet Ibrahim Timur, speaking on behalf of the delegation, revealed that the recent fire at the hotel was the 7th largest hotel fire in the world.
During the presentation, Timur shared details about the fire incident, stating that it started on the 4th floor of the hotel in the early hours of the morning. He highlighted the lack of a proper fire warning system and training for the hotel personnel, which contributed to the severity of the incident.
The delegation also mentioned the presence of a LPG system in the hotel and raised concerns about its usage. They emphasized the importance of investigating the connection of LPG to the hotel and the negligence in handling the gas system.
Additionally, the experts discussed the issue of destroyed fire extinguishing devices and pointed out discrepancies in the initial reports of the incident. They highlighted the need for better safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials in hotels.
The presentation shed light on various aspects of the hotel fire, including the response of people during the evacuation, the lack of active smoke detectors, and the potential risks associated with storing flammable materials in close proximity.
Overall, the findings of the expert delegation underscored the importance of strict adherence to fire safety regulations and regular inspection of fire prevention measures in commercial establishments like hotels. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of overlooking safety protocols and the need for continuous improvement in safety standards.
