Turkmenistan Focuses on Economic Cooperation with Organization
During a meeting on February 12, 2025, between Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, and the General Secretary of the Organization of Economic Cooperation (OEC), Assad Majid Khan, the focus was on the interaction between Turkmenistan and the organization.
Discussions during the meeting centered on the current state of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the OEC, highlighting the positive experience gained over the years. The Minister expressed Turkmenistan’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of this multilateral structure, with a particular emphasis on the transport sector and border trade. The importance of existing agreements on transport and transit, as well as the organization’s trading agreement, was underscored as key priority areas.
The meeting also touched on joint seminars and trainings, showcasing the commitment of both parties to continued collaboration. Sustainable development was highlighted as another important area of partnership, with the Secretary General proposing organizing events in Turkmenistan in the first half of 2025.
In a gesture of further cooperation, the Minister invited the Secretary General to participate in events taking place in Turkmenistan as part of the international year of peace and trust. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to constructive dialogue and expressed confidence in the continued progressive development of their interaction.
