Explosion Rocks Arka-2 Village on Tajikistan Border

On January 5th, a domestic explosion occurred in Arka-2 village on the border with Tajikistan, as reported by the Information and Communications Department of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS).
The incident took place when the owner of the house, identified as N.A., was cleaning under a shed where old construction materials and iron were located. N.A. discovered an unidentified explosive object (shell) which then exploded, causing the house to catch fire.
The explosion resulted in both the woman and her 12-year-old daughter, who was nearby, sustaining shrapnel wounds. Fortunately, they were taken to the hospital and received necessary medical care. Their condition is currently stable.
The Border Service of the SCNS immediately cordoned off the site of the explosion and law enforcement officers are conducting investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident. Furthermore, a meeting between representatives of law enforcement agencies from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place on the same day to inform the Tajik side about the incident.
The SCNS Border Service is urging the population of border areas to remain vigilant and not touch any suspicious objects found. Instead, they should promptly report such objects to border units or law enforcement agencies.
