Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Internal Affairs detains member of organized criminal group
A member of an organized criminal group who is on the interstate wanted list has been detained, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
The detained citizen, a 40-year-old native of Issyk-Ata district, is registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs as an active member of the organized crime group of Kamchi Kolbaev. Previously, while serving a sentence in a correctional facility, he was in a close relationship with a native of Georgia, a so-called crime boss, who has been repeatedly convicted in Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Georgia.
The ministry noted that the man left for Turkey in October 2023, in an attempt to evade criminal liability. A criminal case was initiated, and the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek ordered his detention in absentia, putting him on the interstate wanted list.
After intending to meet with foreign criminal leaders in Turkey and Georgia, the citizen was detained and extradited to Kyrgyzstan with the assistance of Turkish law enforcement agencies on January 27, 2024.
Investigative actions are currently being carried out at the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The case has been initiated under Article 262 (Creation of a criminal community or participation in it) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
