Faculty of Law Admissions Becoming Increasingly Competitive: 100,000 Applicants for 2024

Title: Law Faculty Entrance Exam Difficulty Increased for Students

The competitiveness of gaining admission to a law faculty has intensified this year as the minimum requirement for the entrance exam has been raised to the top 100,000 candidates.

According to a statement by Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç, only the most successful students in Turkey will now have the opportunity to study law at the university. Minister Tunç emphasized that the quota for law faculties will be limited to the top 100,000 ranking in the university entrance exam.

In response to this announcement, the Council of Higher Education recently amended the YKS application guide to reflect the new requirement. The previous threshold of 125,000 candidates has been lowered to 100,000, meaning students aspiring to become lawyers will now have to achieve a high ranking in order to secure a spot in a law faculty.

This change comes after the Ministry of Justice’s request to increase the entrance exam difficulty, as in 2021 the threshold was temporarily raised to 100,000 but then reverted back to 125,000 in 2022.

Aspiring law students will now face a tougher competition and will need to work even harder to secure a place in a law faculty.
