Fatal Clash: Border Guards and Locals Claim Lives in Vodil Conflict

Conflict between Border Guards and Local Residents Leaves Two Dead in Fergana Region
A clash between border guards and local residents in the Vodil residential area of Fergana region, which shares a border with Kyrgyzstan, has resulted in the deaths of two people. The border troops have issued an official statement regarding the incident in the Fergana district’s border area.
According to the statement, on the night of October 16, two local citizens, identified as A.M. and O. Yu., were stopped by the military personnel of the border troops while moving from the “Buston” mahalla. The border guards inspected their vehicle and discovered illegally imported goods within it.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, the citizens were invited to accompany the border troops to their unit. However, around ten accomplices of A.M. and O.Yu. gathered near the area where the incident took place. The group, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, defied the legal demands of the military personnel and engaged in physical resistance against them.
As a result, several members of the military personnel sustained injuries. The border guards fired warning shots in order to deter the citizens, who continued their illegal actions despite the warning. Tragically, two of the citizens who persistently resisted the military personnel lost their lives due to the use of firearms.
The case is currently under investigation by relevant law enforcement agencies.
