Fatih Karahan Appointed as President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey
Following the resignation of Hafize Gaye Erkan, the President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the question of who would take over the position arose. It has now been announced that Fatih Karahan has been appointed to the role. The decision was officially published in the Official Gazette.
Who is Fatih Karahan?
Dr. Fatih Karahan, born in Eskişehir in 1982, has an impressive educational and professional background. He graduated from Boğaziçi University with a degree in Mathematics and Industrial Engineering in 2006, following which he completed his master’s and doctorate in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. Karahan went on to start his career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and has held various prestigious positions in the field of economics.
Cevdet Yilmaz, the Vice President, congratulated Karahan on his new appointment, expressing his well-wishes and hopes for his success. Similarly, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat also extended his congratulations to Karahan and thanked the former president, Hafize Gaye Erkan, for her service.
