Former leader of the main opposition party CHP, Deniz Baykal, along with several politicians and deputies, have been implicated in a scandal involving the distribution of explicit content on the internet. The investigation, which revealed the illegal tapping of phones and dissemination of compromising images and videos, led to the arrest of Ü.Y. in Ankara.
Ü.Y., a former member of the Intelligence Department who was dismissed in 2016, was apprehended by the Ankara Provincial Police Department’s TEM and Intelligence Branch Directorates after being found hiding in a secret compartment in his home.
Authorities discovered evidence linking Ü.Y. to fraud and abuse of power, as well as his involvement in the use of FETÖ’s encrypted communication program “ByLock” and association with members of the terrorist organization. Three separate search records further solidified the case against him.
